This book is a an excellent resource on nutrition and medical nutrition therapy. It’s written in a way that makes complex concepts understandable and accessible. There are many helpful formulas interspersed in chapters and the back of the book is full of helpful charts, assessment tools, and quick nutrition guides. One of the book’s authors, Dr. Nelms, is a former undergraduate professor of mine and her very thorough knowledge of MNT and skill in organizing information in an understandable, engaging manner show through in this book.

I got this book while in my current dietetic internship, my professor was finishing writing it when I was her student, and I have found it to be a valuable resource to go to when refreshing myself on nutrition concepts, especially during the clinical rotation. I anticipate using this book as a tool for many years to come. Definitely worth the investment, even if it’s not a required book for a course. I also recommend her case study book: Medical Nutrition Therapy: A Case Study Approach.
